Julie Doucet

doucetNow it´s time to present author number two in our series of contemporary autobiographical comic artists. I first came into contact with Canadian cartoonist Julie Doucet´s (1965 – ) work when I read her comic´s in the nineties. I thought that they were innovative and funny, though a bit “wordy”. Today, twenty years later, her comics are still good and worth a read! Today I don´t feel that they are to “wordy”. I especially like her book “My New York Diary” where she lets us follow her life in New York, through Art-school, relationships etc. etc.  If you want to know more about her and her work check out this interview. Read more about her here (at publisher Drawn & Quarterly´s site). You can find Julie Doucet´s homepage here.
