The World Book and Copyright Day

Today is The World Book and Copyright Day.

The library has therefore put together some materials, for you who want to use, as a teacher, advisor or student.

There is also an article: “What I’ve learnt from a lifetime of reading” / Alberto Manguel, who is one of the authors participating in the inauguration of the official celebration of The World Book Day, this year happening in Strasbourg in France. Alberto Manguel will let people enjoy “passionate readings that resonate with today’s world”.

The article by Alberto Manguel has been found via our EBSCO database and was originally published in Daily Telegraph in London. The article is meant as a base and inspiration for a discussion about reading. So please feel free to read the whole or just a part of it, as you like. What you could do with your class in connection to reading this, is for example to:

Discuss in pairs the top three books that have marked your life as readers and why.

You could also take one of these reading challenges, just for fun:

  • Read for 15 min during break time and invite someone else / some more people to do so.
  • Recommend a book by an author from another country who opened your mind or made you change a point of view.
  • Draw a character or landscape inspired by a book
  • Discover a biography by an athlete, artist or author.
  • Write a poem based on the plot or character in a novel.

Have a nice World Book and Copyright Day!
